I’m nervous about booking a photo session. What if my children go crazy and won’t listen and my smile is forced and we all just end up a blubbering mess on the floor?
Please do not feel anxious if you or the kids are uncomfortable in front of the camera at first. We all are, aren’t we? I find that children who are instructed to “look at the camera” or “smile” or “say cheese” are most often the ones who have trouble relaxing. I’ll get the expressions I’m after–for some children, it may just take a little more time and trust.
How do I get started?
You will send me an email and we will pin down a date. Before our shoot, you may fret a bit about how to dress everyone and the day of, you will worry that the children will cover their clothing in strawberry jam and that your husband will nick himself shaving and come to the shoot with toilet paper still stuck on his chin. Meanwhile, I will fret over which lenses to bring and whether you will find me as hilariously funny as I find myself, and of course I will worry about the light the light the light. Then we will meet and our worries will melt away and we will just be really happy to be there, chasing children, laughing, having a lovely time.
How long does a family photo session last?
Sessions can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours—we will follow your child’s pace. Be sure to pack snacks, as we will take breaks when the little ones need them.
